NGUYEN SIEU PRIMARY SCHOOL NURTURES TECHNOLOGICAL THINKING THROUGH ITS YOUNG PROGRAMMERS COMPETITION

News Thursday, 29/10/2026

Every year, Nguyen Sieu Primary School organises the Young Programmers Competition for pupils in Years 3, 4 and 5. The competition encourages pupils to apply their knowledge, develop clear logical thinking and enhance their creativity in the digital world. As society moves towards a new era of development and technology becomes an increasingly important driver of national progress, providing children with practical experiences enables them to put their knowledge into practice and learn through hands-on activities.

The competition features programming challenges that require participants to concentrate, analyse requirements and identify appropriate solutions. From initial uncertainty to the perseverance needed to test different approaches, each task offers pupils an opportunity to discover their abilities and gradually become familiar with the way programmers think. During the competition, pupils learn the fundamentals of Scratch programming, including the use of coding blocks for variables, sensing and loops. The competition provides a valuable platform for nurturing creative potential while highlighting the importance of technology and programming in the modern world. It also helps strengthen pupils’ motivation to learn, improve their computing skills and encourage the application of information technology in learning, daily activities and recreation.

In addition, the competition aims to identify and nurture young computing talent, while encouraging pupils to explore technology independently and develop a lasting interest in programming. It also helps prepare pupils to participate in the Yen Hoa Ward Young Informatics Competition for the 2026–2027 academic year, should the competition take place.

The School hopes that each competition will provide pupils with meaningful, hands-on experiences from an early age, laying a strong foundation for the development of essential skills for the future.
