A TRIBUTE TO THE FOUNDER OF NGUYEN SIEU PRIMARY SCHOOL ON VIETNAMESE WOMEN’S DAY

News Tuesday, 20/10/2026

Vietnamese Women’s Day, celebrated annually on 20 October, honours Vietnamese women and recognises their contributions, qualities and roles in their families, workplaces and society. The date commemorates the founding of the Vietnam Anti-Imperialist Women’s Association, now the Vietnam Women’s Union, on 20 October 1930. It is also an opportunity for us to express our gratitude to the women whose quiet dedication has helped nurture and enrich our communities.

Educator Duong Thi Thinh is the Founder and first Principal of Nguyen Sieu Primary School. From the very beginning, she and Colonel and People’s Teacher Nguyen Trong Vinh devoted themselves wholeheartedly to building the School, gradually establishing an educational environment where generations of pupils could learn, grow and develop in all aspects of life. With her educational vision, perseverance and dedication, she laid the foundations for Nguyen Sieu Primary School at the dawn of its educational journey. The values she nurtured in those early years continue to be upheld and developed through the School’s educational work today.

Educator Duong Thi Thinh is also the mother of Dr Nguyen Vinh Hanh, Chair of the School Council. Despite her advancing years, she continues to take a keen interest in Nguyen Sieu Primary School, regularly following the School’s activities and offering words of encouragement to its teachers and staff. Every gesture of care and every thoughtful enquiry reflect her deep affection for the School she devoted so much of her life to building. This enduring bond is not only a source of pride for generations of the Nguyen Sieu Primary School community, but also an inspiration for us to preserve its cherished values and continue our steadfast commitment to education.

On this special occasion, the entire Nguyen Sieu Primary School community wishes Educator Duong Thi Thinh continued good health, peace and happiness. We deeply appreciate her invaluable contributions and are grateful for the strong foundations she established, enabling future generations to grow, flourish and carry forward this meaningful educational journey.
