Attendance
According to the Ministry of Education and Training’s standard regulations, attendance is compulsory, unless the student is unable to attend due to illness, risk of infection, sudden and serious family problems, or inclement weather. Students must be present in class according to the Timetable, attending all 8 classes a day, from 7:45 to 11:20 and from 13:30 to 15:00, from Monday to Friday every week. Skipping classes for any reason is not accepted at Nguyen Sieu Primary School, including participation in another class’s academic project, unless approved by the class teacher. Skipping classes may result in disciplinary action. The principal may agree to allow a student to be absent from school for no more than 5 days if the student has a valid and legitimate reason. A student who is absent from school for more than 45 days in a school year may not be promoted to the next grade. In the event that some classes are postponed/cancelled, the school may organize make-up classes or extra classes for students to catch up with the curriculum. Regarding make-up classes, students may be required to attend classes on Saturdays or after hours. Teachers are willing to help students arrange a suitable schedule to make up the hours; however, it is the student's responsibility to complete the make-up assignments in a timely manner.

Notification of absences
In the event of an absence that cannot be reported in advance due to unavoidable reasons that prevent a student from attending school, the parent is responsible for notifying the homeroom teacher by phone, email or text message as soon as possible, or can call the school office directly. After receiving the notification, the name of the absent student will be recorded. If the school does not receive information about the student’s absence, the homeroom teacher will attempt to contact the parent for confirmation.
Excused absences
Absences are considered excused in cases of illness, death in the family, special circumstances and medical appointments at the hospital. Parents must provide valid evidence for the above cases. Medical appointments should be arranged after school hours (if possible).
Sick Leave
When a student is sick and cannot attend school, parents are responsible for notifying the homeroom teacher as soon as possible. Absences due to illness or similar reasons must be supported by a written request from the parent/guardian and a doctor’s note. The request/sick note must be submitted to the homeroom teacher on the first day the student returns to school. In the event of a prolonged illness, parents/guardians should notify the homeroom teacher with a written request and continue to notify the homeroom teacher in writing when the student returns to school. All requests/requests must be written and signed by the parent or guardian. Students who are absent for more than three days and miss assignments during the absence must proactively discuss with the teacher on the day the student returns to school to complete the assignments. Students may request materials or worksheets or missed projects from the teacher and request an extension of time to complete the assignments. If the school does not receive any notification from the parent, the absence will be considered unexcused. However, if it is discovered that a student is taking advantage of illness to participate in another activity, even with parental permission, the student’s absence is still considered unexcused.
Sick leave during the day
When a student must leave early before the end of the school day, the student is only allowed to leave school if he/she has a “School Entry and Exit Form” signed by the Principal and the homeroom teacher, including lunch break.
Transferring schools
When a student transfers schools, parents need to submit a transfer application to the office to complete the required procedures.
